In partnership with Agri-Food Management Institute and Rob Hannam from the Synthesis Agri-Food Network, RAIN will host a train-the-trainer event for farm business advisors to learn how to train others how to analyze their farm’s financial statements and take action.The workshop will provide information, tools and resources to help advisors successfully work with agri-food business owners. The workshop will introduce tools that can assist farms with farm succession, financial analysis and business strategy.

Who is invited?
Anyone who works with farms and food processing businesses in a business advising aspect is invited to attend this free event. Farm lenders, economic development organizations, bookkeepers and accountants are invited to participate in this one-day workshop.
What will be covered?
- Business strategy: Overview of tools that advisors can use to conduct a benchmark of farms in different sectors
- Financial analysis: Participants go through an example case study of a farm and analyze a set of financial statements. Participants identify profitability, liquidity and solvency issues with the business. Participants identify how these issues could be remedied with recommendations. The presenter will cover how to effectively analyze farm financial statements to identify issues and recommendations.
- Farm succession strategies: Identifying and analyzing the differences between ownership structures in a farm transfer. Overview of tools available for farm succession planning.
About the Presenter
