Algoma Harvest Showcase

The inaugural Algoma Harvest Showcase presented by the Rural Agri-Innovation Network (RAIN) and Algoma Table will take place October 5-11, 2015. During Algoma Harvest Showcase local restaurants will create unique autumn dishes with ingredients sourced from local farms.

This summer, RAIN launched an online marketplace called Algoma Table for farms to sell local food to restaurants, retailers and food service providers. The Algoma Table platform is setup to help food producers and farms find new markets, establish direct relationships and make ordering easy for chefs and food buyers. Algoma Table encourages the exchange of local fresh food that is delivered direct to buyers.

“Algoma Harvest Showcase celebrates the harvest season and the region’s local food movement.” says David Thompson, RAIN’s project coordinator. “The week-long event provides local chefs with an opportunity to create a special savoury autumn dish while exploring the fresh Algoma produce available during the season”.

Restaurant customers can sample a variety of local food creations at these participating restaurants, and can enter to win a prize draw:
