From May 3rd to May 7th 2020, the RAIN and Ontario Maple Syrup Producers Association (OMSPA) will lead a tour of maple syrup farms and facilities in Quebec (Sherbrooke/Saint-Georges region).
May 3rd – Departure from Sault Ste. Marie at 6 a.m. with pick-ups at locations between SSM and North Bay. A dinner and tour will take place at Sand Road Traditional Maple Farm & Sugar Shack in Moose Creek. The bus will continue on to Sherbrooke QC for the first night at Hôtel Le Président.
May 4th to 6th – Using Saint-Georges (Hôtel Le Georgesville) as a base, we will tour a number of maple syrup farms (from 17,000 to 160,000 taps) and the Lapierre bottling facility. This includes special speakers, farm and facility tours arranged by CDL, H20 Innovations, D&G, Lapierre and Centre ACER (sites being confirmed). Larger dinners and lunches for May 4th/5th are being arranged with Hôtel Le Georgesville.
May 7th – Early departure from Saint-Georges returning to Sault Ste. Marie
- Cost for the charter bus and the larger dinners (3, May 3-5th) and lunches (2, May 4-5th) is $150+HST ($169.50) to be payable to the Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre – amount is due before March 27, 2020.
- Cost for accommodation and other personal meals is at the expense of attendees – Hôtel Le Georgesville (Saint-Georges, 3 nights) is $109 per night plus taxes & lodging taxes of 3.5% per room. Rate is for single or double occupancy, add $15 per night for additional person. Hôtel Le Président (Sherbrooke, 1 night) is $134.95/night plus taxes with continental breakfast buffet for $8 (plus taxes). Rooms need to be confirmed before March 27, 2020.
